Oak View Union Elementary School District will try to match its high-ranking standardized test score with fundraising efforts this weekend.
On this year's Academic Performance Index, the one-school district located in Acampo scored higher than any other school district in both San Joaquin and Sacramento counties. The score of 875 was up 13 points from last year, according to Vice Principal Alan Posey.
"As a school we are ranked 14 out of all 206 schools in San Joaquin County, with many ranked higher being charter or academy schools, or straight elementary," he said, adding that Oak View is a kindergarten through eighth-grade school with 401 students.
On Saturday, students will hold an e-waste fundraiser and will try to match or beat their API score in dollars.
The fundraiser will benefit Oak View School student awards and attendance awards. Right now the school's attendance rate hovers around a 98 percent monthly average, according to Posey.
The highest API score in Sacramento County was Folsom-Cordova Unified School District, with 837, while Galt Joint Union Elementary School District came in second with a score of 831.
In San Joaquin County, the second-highest scorer was Lammersville Joint Unified School District, with a score of 871.
