One man was arrested following a high-speed pursuit Saturday morning.
A Lodi Police Department officer was making his patrol rounds just before 4 a.m. when he noticed three people in a truck acting suspiciously on westbound Harney Lane, Lt. Chris Jacobsen said. The officer made a U-turn to follow the vehicle and see where they were headed.
The truck made a sharp right turn onto Cherokee Road heading north and got on southbound Highway 99 with the officer in pursuit, Jacobsen said. The truck took the Armstrong Road exit and proceeded northbound on the Frontage Road.
Suddenly, the driver put the truck in reverse and sped at the officer, forcing him to quickly reverse to avoid being hit, Jacobsen said. The truck made a U-turn to get back on the freeway heading south. The truck weaved through the early morning traffic before driving right up next to the center divider and stopping, police said. The driver jumped out of the open window, bolted across the northbound lanes, and has not yet been located.
Two passengers were detained at the site. Edward Mamril, 45, of Lodi, had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant through Sacramento and was arrested. The other passenger was released. Neither would identify the driver, Jacobsen said.
