Very good article, Sara. We need more dedicated people like Dan Crownover and Stephanie Ward.

It should be mentioned that the Lodi Animal Shelter and Animal Friends Connection on Cherokee (assuming this program is still alive and well) can give cat owners a voucher for $40 (at least when I got one a couple of years ago) - $40 off the cost of a spay or neuter at certain veterinary hospitals in Lodi - Cherokee Veterinary is/was one of the participants.

This was a well deserved article. I have worked with both Dan and Stephanie to catch feral cats at my workplace in Lodi. They work hard at it and spend much of their own money to catch and neuter cats. Another hard worker who was not mentioned is Bobbie, who works with them too. I ended up keeping one of the feral cats they helped me catch. After she was neutered, I ended up taking her home. She was about 2 years old when we caught her after spending all of her life as a feral cat with her feral mother. She has become semi-domesticated where she will sit next to you to be petted but is still a bit skittish. I feed another feral cat at work that Dan caught and had fixed and released back to my workplace. Although she will not let me near her, she comes around twice a day to be fed.

Dan and Stephanie deserve praise for their efforts to save stray and feral cats. More important, they need your donations to help them continue on with this wonderful cause.
