The Galt Joint Union Elementary School District will begin accepting registrations on Nov. 14 for the 2012-13 school year. Registration forms can be picked up at any school office or accessed on the district’s website at www.galt.k12.ca.us.

Parents are urged to register their children early to assist the district in planning for next school year. Children are not required to be present at the time of registration.

Enrollment in kindergarten requires that a child must be 4 years and 9 months of age by Aug. 1, 2012. The birth date must have been on, or before, Nov. 1, 2007.

Enrollment in first grade requires that a child must be 5 years and 9 months of age by Sept. 1, 2012. Their birth date must have been on, or before, Dec. 2, 2006.

Children who are in kindergarten this year are automatically registered for next year’s first grade.

The following documents are required for first-time registration:

  • Birth certificate (or photostatic copy), notification of birth registration, U.S. Passport, baptismal certificate or affidavit. Affidavit forms are available at any school office.
  • Written record of immunizations for polio, measles, rubella, mumps, diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, varicela and hepatitis B series. Religious or medical exemptions are acceptable.
  • Oral health assessment within the 12-month period before the child enters school; assessment must be performed by a licensed dentist or other licensed or registered dental health professional.
  • Proof of residency, such as a utility bill.
