Delegates from the Lodi Sister City Committee will be traveling to Japan on Oct. 15 to visit Lodi’s sister city Kofu in the Yamanashi prefecture.

For 11 days, the delegates will visit popular places in Japan, including Tokyo and Mount Fuji. The trip will be highlighted with the grand opening ceremony of Kofu’s new city hall and community center, where the delegates will present the city with a scale replica of Downtown Lodi’s “Celebrate the Harvest” statue.

In 2011, officials from Kofu visited Lodi to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the sister city partnership.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
