  Great comment, Mr. Sanacore. Other steps need to be taken to eliminate agricultural burning, manufacturing plants that still spew the same pollutants they did years ago due to the fact that they can purchase clean air credits from other businesses that have installled modern technologies and have those clean air credits to sell for a profit. Ths system needs to be completely dismantled or at the least, only given to those plants that make an effort to use new technologies and not just depend on the clean air credit system to continue polluting our earth. The SJ Valley is one of the most polluted in America, along with our rivers and streams that are also affected by these gross polluters. Perhaps now that the CA legislature is controlled by a super majority, the democrats, which, by the way, scares me with their policies on the Delta and pandering to large corporations who do much of their manufacturing in known slave labor countries, but who have a sense of responsibility to make sure our next generations have the resources and a clean environment no further choked by the pollutants and contaminants that are still allowed to openly destroy our atmosphere.

  Fireplace wood smoke is a genuine problem in the Valley. Unfortunately California no longer has a population of 15 million people; it's more like 38 million people. With an increase in the population, the potential for air pollution has reached a health concern level.

  I'm glad that the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District has taken action on this fireplace wood burning air pollution problem. In my neighborhood here in Lodi, the smoke from fireplaces can get thick. You can sometimes see the smoke pouring out of some chimneys like a steam locomotive from the 1800's.

  My family has experienced breathing and other respiratory problems from wood smoke. It isn't a happy thing to see your family and other families suffering from something that really isn't necessary. Having to take medication and use an inhaler, isn't a happy thing at all.

  With the restrictions, retrofit incentives, and the poor heating ability of standard fireplaces, it just doesn't make sense to burn wood anymore. We plan to install the natural gas insert in our fireplace to help the situation. It's time for better health for people in the Valley. Let's do our part to make it happen.

  If you can smell smoke, it is damaging your lungs. Outlaw those damn wood burning fireplaces.
