The Lockeford Community Services District board will hear an update on Thursday on developing plans for a four-acre park south of the Lockeford Community Center on Jack Tone Road.
The board will also hear an update on replacing a well in downtown Lockeford that is out of commission and consider giving the general manager the authority to respond during a major emergency.
Thursday's meeting will begin at 9 a.m. at the Old Lockeford Schoolhouse, 19456 N. Jack Tone Road.
Kristine Lagoda elected new Thornton Muncipal Advisory Council president
Kristine Lagoda was elected president of the Thornton Muncipal Advisory Council last week. She replaces Robert Jones, who chaired the MAC in 2009.
Jones was elected vice president by his fellow MAC members, and Shelley Lopes was chosen as secretary.
San Joaquin County women's center to add positions
The San Joaquin Women's Center in Stockton received $238,000 in federal funding to create four jobs and increase sexual assault prevention and crisis intervention services for the community, according to the office of Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-Pleasanton.
The funds will be used to hire two new counselors and two sexual assault prevention specialists. Three of the four positions have been filled, and the new employees started work at the Women's Center this week.
Several projects to receive federal funding
Several transportation and public safety projects will receive federal funding, according to Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-Pleasanton.
— $300,000 to improve the Altamont Commuter Express service, which provides train service between the Central Valley and Silicon Valley.
— $500,000 to acquire property, design and construct a regional operations center in Stockton for the San Joaquin Regional Transit District.
— $800,000 toward connecting the Interstate 5-French Camp Road interchange with Performance Drive and the Stockton Metropolitan Airport.
Two supervisors endorse Jack Sieglock
San Joaquin County Supervisors Steve Bestolarides and Larry Ruhstaller have endorsed Republican Jack Sieglock for the 10th Assembly District seat held by Assemblywoman Alyson Huber, D-El Dorado Hills.

Brad Goehring, of Clements, seeking the Republican nomination in the 11th Congressional District, has announced the endorsements of Stockton City Councilman Dale Fritchen, Manteca City Councilman Steve DeBrum, Escalon Mayor Pro Tem Danny Fox and Escalon Councilman Ed Alves.
Stanislaus County supervisors endorse Tom Berryhill
Four of the five members of the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors have endorsed Republican Tom Berryhill, of Oakdale, for the 14th Senate District seat being vacated by Dave Cogdill, R-Modesto, according to Berryhill's campaign.
Berryhill, brother of 26th District Assemblyman Bill Berryhill, of Ceres, was endorsed by Supervisors Jim DeMartini, Jeff Grover, Vito Chisea and Bill O'Brien.
