Lodi Unified School District trustees will give each school in the district an extra 10 percent to reimburse teachers who purchase school supplies out of their own pocket.
The board voted on Tuesday to allocate almost $150,000 out of the general fund to be divided among each school. Campus principals will decide how much each teacher will get.
“We’ve spent probably thousands of dollars out of our own pockets,” said President Jeff Johnston of the Lodi Education Association.
Trustee Joe Nava said he wanted a needs assessment to determine how much teachers have spent out of their pockets for supplies.
