Lodi Unified School District trustee George Neely came up with the idea to allocate an extra 10 percent to reimburse teachers who purchase school supplies out of their own pocket.
Neely’s position at the Sept. 3 school board meeting was incorrectly stated in an earlier version of this story, which was also published on page 2 of the Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, edition of the Lodi News-Sentinel.

Lodi Unified School District trustees will give each school in the district an extra 10 percent to reimburse teachers who purchase school supplies out of their own pocket.
The board voted on Tuesday to allocate almost $150,000 out of the general fund to be divided among each school. Campus principals will decide how much each teacher will get.
