Political notes Assemblyman Jim Cooper receives mental health award

Assemblyman Jim Cooper, D-Elk Grove, has been honored by the National Alliance on Mental Illness for his work to assist individuals living with mental illness, including two bills he authored this year.

Assembly Bill 1018 requires the Department of Health Care Services and the California Department of Education to convene a joint task force on the topic of mental health services for children. The bill recently was approved by the Assembly.
