Can somebody tell me who the 17yr old was? What is his name?

I was Angelica's AVID teacher for 4 years. My heart aches at the loss of this wonderful young woman. She was shy but when she got to know you she was down to earth and so funny! She had a smile that lit up the room! Angelica was a loyal, kind friend. Every Valentine's Day and Christmas she got me some small heart felt gift. I last saw her in December when she stopped by school to wish me and my family a Merry Christmas. She had started Delta College. Her goal was the first in her family to graduate from college. She wanted to be a teacher. I can't imagine the grief that her family going through. What a senseless tragedy!

Two killings in such a short period of time is not a good indicator of what's to come in Lodi. Here in Stockton, we've already had 10 murders, although I have yet to see today's paper....which may reveal more at the rate it's going. They are so blatant here that they are having gunfights in broad daylight, causing nearby schools to go on lock down. It really doesn't matter what part of town you live in because it's happening all over our city. These gang members do not care. After working up close and personal with these types in the criminal justice system, I can tell you they have no regard for human life. I have seen few show remorse. This is what we're up against in our communities now....young people (and some not so young) who have become so numb inside they don't care about who they hurt, nor are they afraid of their fate after they commit their crimes.
Their actions have more far-reaching consequences that we also have to consider with respect to our own children. Our kids see this stuff going on around them and they eventually become desensitized to killing, too. I remember a time when my daughter was younger and tears would come to her eyes when she heard about murders like this. Young kids can't comprehend senseless violence. It has a profound effect on them--and on all of us--that maybe we don't readily want to admit. Now, at the age of 14, my daughter already has three close friends who've had family members murdered here. Drive-bys are so common that our kids have come to accept it as the norm. After 48 years here, I'm finally leaving Stockton and heading for the hills....because what's ahead is even worse. I wish more people understood that, but many refuse to see what is going on behind the curtain....not just in Stockton, but everywhere.
As a former police officer in Lodi, I know your citizens are feisty when it comes to their intolerance of crime or anything that threatens your ability to live in peace, which is one reason why Lodi's crime rate has remained fairly low considering who it's neighboring cities are. Together with LPD, you can keep your city from becoming like Stockton, but it takes vigilance, which you have already proven you have. I wish you guys all the best. Lodi is close to my heart in many ways.

Chicken punks with a; gun. Brought to Lodi via the latino punk gangs. They couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag. I hope LPD has what it takes to pressure these jerks out of Lodi.
