The News-Sentinel's Relay for Life team is hosting a garage sale from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Clothing, dishes, children's toys and a variety of knick-knacks will be for sale in the newspaper's back parking lot at Locust and Church streets.
All of the money raised at the sale will go toward Relay for Life, which is a 24-hour walk on June 2 that raises awareness and money for the American Cancer Society.
The team will also be registering cancer survivors and selling $10 luminaries — decorated bags lit with candles — in honor or memory of someone who battled cancer.
Registered survivors will receive a free T-shirt and also be able to participate in a dinner before the June 2 event. At Relay, there is a Survivor Lap, and breakfast and lunch are free.
The team will also sell $1 raffle tickets for a red beach cruiser donated by City Bikes.
