Darrell Fong had planned to run for another term on the Sacramento City Council when he said he was encouraged to run for the State Assembly District 9 seat being vacated by Richard Pan.

Fong has been working on water policy issues as a Sacramento city councilman, and feels he can take that expertise to the state level.
