Want to play blackjack, poker, craps or roulette without leaving Lodi? You can do just that on Friday night while raising money for school programs that the Lodi Unified School District cannot afford to provide.

Casino Night, sponsored by the GOT Kids Foundation, will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. in Kirst Hall at Hutchins Street Square, 125 S. Hutchins St. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and there will be raffle baskets and silent auction items. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres will be served, and a no-host bar will be available throughout the evening.

The hall will include 24 blackjack tables, three poker tables, three craps tables and a roulette table, all managed by professional dealers. You must be 21 or older to enter the hall.

During the last hour of the event — from 10 to 11 p.m. — raffle prizes and silent auction items will be distributed to the winners.

Admission is $50, which earns the ticket holder $500 in GOT Kids “funny money” for use at the gaming tables. At the end of the night, the “funny money” can be exchanged for raffle tickets.

Tickets may be purchased at the James Areida Educational Center, 1305 E. Vine St., or Olsen & Associates, 431 S. Ham Lane, Lodi. You may also visit gotkids.lodiusd.org. For more information, call 209-331-7002.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
