The folks at LangeTwins Winery are looking to sponsor a handful of weekend warrior athletes, the kind who train during the week and go out for 5K and 10K runs, marathons and cycling events, called the Active Team.
Joe Lange says its a way of expanding the sustainability message. Their vineyards and wines are made sustainably, so Lange wanted to help people live sustainable, active lives.
His trek from Canada to Lodi was both a personal challenge and a way to kick off the Active Team. Team members will have entry fees sponsored, wear LangeTwins gear and earn other perks.

Joe Lange wasn’t able to keep his title this year at the Vintner’s Cup Race of the Lodi Cyclefest, a competition he has won four years running. But he says he had a good excuse.
Lange and his cycling buddy Warren Lemcke just completed a 14-day, 1,200-mile ride from Vancouver, British Columbia, right back to Lodi — including 43,000 vertical feet of climbing.
