- Public budget hearings begin June 28
The San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors will conduct public
hearings by department on the 2011-12 fiscal year budget beginning
at 1:30 p.m. June 28 in the boar chambers, 44 N. San Joaquin St.,
sixth floor, Stockton.
Hearings will be held all afternoon on June 28, all day on June
29 beginning at 9 a.m., and all or part of June 30, also beginning
at 9. The Board of Supervisors will adopt the final budget once the
hearings are over.
Copies of the budget are available at the county administrator's
and clerk of the board's offices. They are scheduled to be
available online at www.co.san-joaquin.ca.us. Click "county budget"

San Joaquin County will lay off as many as 88 employees by the
end of the month to trim the county budget if the Board of
Supervisors adopts a staff recommendation presented Tuesday.
County Administrator Manuel Lopez presented the board with a
proposed $1.2 billion budget, up by $35 million from the 2010-11
fiscal year, which ends June 30. It includes 218 eliminated
positions, 88 of which are currently filled.
