Willie R. Nelson, a retired postal carrier and school bus driver, has been appointed to the Woodbridge Sanitary District board of directors. Nelson was chosen to replace Dwight Langhoff, who resigned in November.
The four other board members, Doug Colucci, Richard Best, Harold Rohrbach and Glenda Wall, voted for Nelson at a special board meeting Wednesday night. Two other residents applied for the vacant seat — Doug Field and Charles Stocker.
Nelson was a carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and a bus driver for the Lodi Unified School District.
According to his application for the sanitary board, Nelson said he has been a member of the St. Peter School board and the St. Peter Lutheran Church Board of Evangelism in Lodi. He is also a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
His hobbies include yard work, hunting, fishing and biking.
The sanitary district provides sewer service for Woodbridge residents and businesses. It also the authority to approve garbage rates in Woodbridge.
Nelson wasn’t available for comment Wednesday.
