The day after she walked out of a Lodi City Council meeting following a dispute with the mayor, Councilwoman JoAnne Mounce explained her side of the story.
“Let me tell you why I did that,” Mounce said Thursday morning when asked about why she walked out. “This is an accumulative problem. My council has disrespected me for the last three and a half years, and they do it in closed session as well as publicly. I had been working with a past president of the League of California Cities who has had to endure the same amount of bullying by her council as I do with mine, and this is now what she has started to do because she has to send a clear message to her council members that you can not disrespect me in that manner, and I’ve just go to start standing up for myself.”
