Before she even started high school, Erica Musgrave had a goal. She wanted to be the Jim Elliot Christian High School valedictorian.
“It’s been my goal all four years,” she said.
Now, as she prepares to attend St. Mary’s College in the fall, she is excited that she reached her goal of becoming one of Jim Elliot’s two valedictorians.
Musgrave was born in Atlanta, but moved to Lodi when she was four. She attended Lodi schools and became active in sports and academics at Jim Elliot.
For all four years, Musgrave played softball, and she is now on a competitive softball team. She also played volleyball for two years. She worked with community outreach clubs, Impact and Interact, while she was in high school. Her favorite classes were her Bible classes, and she especially enjoyed Dennis Buchmiller’s history class.
At St. Mary’s, Musgrave plans to major in mathematics and maybe become a college professor.
What she’ll miss most about Jim Elliot is her group of friends and the community she’s found on campus.
“It’s like a family kind of thing,” she said.
