They creep into your backyard, breaking through sewer lines and disrupting your perfectly laid deck. They can survive under city streets for years, slowly coming close enough to the surface to crack the concrete. The destructive force of roots from Raywood Ash trees are making their way across Lower Sacramento Road, and potentially causing thousands of dollars in damage with every few inches they grow.

The Lodi City Council spent Tuesday morning looking at 39 trees between Elm Street and Tejon Street on Lower Sacramento that city staff is recommending for removal because the roots are ruining the curbs, streets, water pipes and sewers.
