To the uninformed, a salmon festival may conjure images of fishing fanatics talking lures, fish and beer. But the Lodi Salmon Festival is not a fisherman's convention - it is more of an awareness, education and preservation event for the river in which the salmon live.
Booths and exhibits by organizations such as Woodbridge Irrigation District, Stockton's U.S. Fish and Wildlife Office and the Mokelumne River Fish Hatchery offer a glimpse into the nature of the event, and the event's focus on nature.
