The Valley Concert Band, featuring musicians from San Joaquin County, will perform in Lodi on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Hutchins Street Square. For the past seven years, with 32 musicians under the direction of Chris Anderson, the band has offered Pops concerts around Northern California.
The members of the band appear as soloists and performers in symphonies, concert bands, jazz ensembles and musical theater productions throughout San Joaquin County. All musicians are members of the American Federation of Musicians.
Conductor Chris Anderson is a graduate of the University of the Pacific Conservatory of Music. He has been active as a music educator, performer and conductor in San Joaquin County for over 25 years. He is often featured as a soloist, clinician and guest conductor with area performing groups and schools. As a trombonist, Mr. Anderson currently performs with the Swingaires, The Stockton Concert Band, SJDC Monday Night Jazz Band, tropical Nights and has performed with Mel Torme, Dave Brubeck, Arturo Sandoval and Claudia Villela.
The featured guest piano soloist, Dane Burg, will perform "Slaughter on Tenth Avenue" by Richard Rogers. He has played with the Santa Rosa Symphony, Napa Valley Symphony and The Stockton Symphony. For the last 10 years, Burg has been the Pastor of Worship Arts at the First Baptist Church of Lodi.
