Once again, it's time to grab a glass and sample some of the best food and wine Lodi has to offer. Forty-two wineries and 16 restaurants and catering companies will be on hand offering fresh creations designed to compliment the varietals that will be served at the ninth annual Taste of Lodi on Sunday.
The event is expected to draw about 1,500 wine enthusiasts to sip and sample in the sun.
"We are expecting around the same turnout as last year," said Nancy Beckman, president and CEO of Visit Lodi! Conference and Visitor's Bureau, the group hosting the event.
Who will be there?: Local chefs such as Julio Camberos, of Califas Cafe and Bistro and Black Tie Gourmet Catering Company; Michael Warren, of Crush Kitchen + Bar; and Ruben Larrazolo, from Alebrijes Mexican Bistro, will have booths with samples.
For the fifth year in a row, Joe Leningan's "Little" Big Band will be performing live music. Local artists and authors will be at the tasting as well. Debra Ann Ristau, author of "Lodi On the Label," will be at the event with copies of her book as well.

When is it?: Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
What should I make a point to see?: The Port, Cigar and Chocolate Pavilion is a Taste of Lodi favorite. Beckman is also excited about Taste of Lodi's inaugural ice cream contest. Velvet Grill & Creamery is preparing three unique flavors of ice cream for the event, Beckman said. Participants can try all three and vote on their favorite.
The winner will be unveiled Oct. 1 at Velvet Grill & Creamery, and the first 100 people at the restaurant after the announcement will win free ice cream.
