A Lodi teenager was arrested for burglary after someone called and complained to police that the teen was sleeping on the sidewalk in front of their home.
David Martin Vandenberg, 19, was arrested by Officer Larry Vietz of the Lodi Police Department around 9:30 a.m. Monday after he was found to have stolen items in his backpack and in his pockets, according to police.
Vietz said that when he responded to the 200 block of West Lockeford Street to answer the caller's complaint, he found Vandenberg asleep on the ground.
Vandenberg had evaded police after burglarizing a home on Murray Street, which happened only a few days ago, Vietz said.
In searching Vandenberg's backpack, Vietz said he found a digital video recorder. He also found a cellphone that had been stolen from a Jeep, police said, as well as trinket items.
Vandenberg was taken to the Lodi jail, where he currently remains in custody.
