The trial for a Lodi bookkeeper accused of embezzlement will continue with further arraignment in August.
Amanda Marie Boling, 30, was in Stockton Superior Court on Monday morning as both sides received court documents as the case moved closer to trial.
Boling allegedly embezzled about $137,000 over two years from Lodi dentist Kevin Flemming, according to court documents. The Wilton resident is accused of using the practice’s payroll, specifically “employee reimbursements,” to pay herself and avoid paying income taxes on the money. Boling worked at Flemming’s office for more than 12 years, according to court records.
A Lodi Police Department investigation into the case began in December, 2010 and Boling turned herself in to authorities in late April. She has not been in custody in the months leading up to trial because she was deemed not to be a flight risk at an arraignment hearing in early May.
Boling is charged with felony grand theft. If convicted, she could spend up to three years in prison, plus an additional year if the amount taken is found to be more than $65,000.
She will return to court Aug. 17.
