San Joaquin County to hold free prescription drug disposal today

In partnership with local law enforcement agencies, the Drug Enforcement Administration is holding a free prescription drug disposal event today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Old medications may be taken to the Old Lockeford School House, 19456 N. Jack Tone Road, Lockeford Taft Community Center, 389 Downing Ave., Stockton; or Cilantro's Grill, 2120 Country Club Blvd., Stockton.

Home-generated sharps including syringes, hypodermic needles, lancets and other needle devices used for injecting medication will be collected at this event.

Medications, home-generated medical sharps and other household hazardous wastes are also accepted Thursday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the central County Household Hazardous Waste Facility, 7850 R.A. Bridgeford St., Stockton.
