Two vehicles were punctured by a hail of bullets shortly after 6 p.m. on the 300 block of Maple Street. While it could be a result of gang activity, the incident does not appear to be related to the other shootings in the area this week, said Detective Hettie Schaeffer, of the Lodi Police Department.
No one was injured in the incident.
The shooting took place at 6:11 p.m. when a group of people opened fire on the street and struck several vehicles with bullets.
A white Chevrolet Cavalier took the bulk of the damage. Its back window was shot out and a bullet was laying on the passenger seat when police arrived. The sedan’s front windshield also had been pierced by a gunshot.
“The owner came out after hearing the shots and saw her vehicle was vandalized,” Schaeffer said.
On the other end of the street a white Jaguar had also been shot twice. The car took a bullet through its windshield and front grill. While the vehicle was occupied, no one inside got a clear look at the subjects, Schaeffer said.
