Kona and his brother Chocolate are sweet, long-hair Dachshunds who turn 1-year-old Saturday. They were born on Dec. 28, 2012. Both Kona and Chocolate are neutered, they each have a microchip and their vaccinations are current. They are bonded to each other so they need to be adopted together.

Kona and Chocolate are said to be possessive of food and toys, but that behavior has not been observed by Animal Friends Connection. They each use their own bowls when fed twice a day, and they share toys nicely.

Kona and Chocolate love going for walks with the Walk n Wag group and walk well using a harness. They are not cat friendly. They are playful, affectionate and loving dogs who like kids, ride well in the car and seem to like everyone they meet. Kona and Chocolate are working on their potty training and are progressing well. They currently live with 21 dogs and get along great with them. They will bark at strange dogs on the street if they get to close, but they are getting better at controlling themselves.

Kona and Chocolate will bark as if to talk if they are not paid attention to, so a home that would make them a part of the family and not made to stay outside alone is what they need. They will make great companions.

Kona and Chocolate are being offered for adoption through Animal Friends Connection, a Lodi nonprofit organization dedicated to helping companion animals since 1990. For more information about Kona and Chocolate, call or 209-365-0535.

To view other dogs and cats available for adoption, visit the sanctuary at 933 S. Cherokee Lane, Lodi, or visit www.animalfriendsconnect.org or www.facebook.com/animalfriendsconnection. Sanctuary hours are from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekends.
