The Clements Rural Fire District and San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office ask that rafters in the Mokelumne River borrow life preservers free of charge at the Clements fire station at Highway 88 and Mackville Road.

The two agencies are participating in the fourth annual “Kids Don’t Float” program. It was to begin on Memorial Day weekend, but authorities have loaned preservers when the weather warmed up earlier in May. Children’s and adult-sized life preservers are available.
