A Lodi man who aimed a laser at a helicopter in May is now on probation after paying a fine and serving some jail time.
Charles Brill, 52, spent three days in jail after he pointed a green laser beam at a California Highway Patrol aircraft. At the time, Brill said he meant no harm, and only liked to see the sparkle of the laser on the metal of the aircraft.
He pleaded no contest to one count of a willful discharge of a laser at an occupied aircraft during his arraignment in late May. Brill paid $322 in fines and fees, and received a sentence of three years conditional probation.
