San Joaquin Delta College is looking for volunteers to judge the host the SkillsUSA Region 5 Competition on Feb 2.

SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization that partners with students, teachers and industry professionals to ensure that America has a skilled workforce. The goal is to help prepare students for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations.

Winners from this year's Region 5 Competition will advance to the State Championships in San Diego in April.

At least three judges are required for each skill cluster. There are many opportunities to help, including correcting written exams, observing hands-on testing and personal interviews.

Judges are needed for 14 categories, including: Advertising/media design, firefighting, auto service technology, health occupation skills, community service, job interview, culinary arts, photography, computer repair, public speaking, criminal justice, robotics, drafting and web design.

SkillsUSA event judges and volunteers will be provided with a continental breakfast and lunch. For more information or to volunteer, contact Alex Taddei at 209-954-5239 or ataddei@deltacollege.edu; or electronics instructor Sergio Calderon at 209-954-6072 or scalderon@deltacollege.edu.
