A judge ruled that a man accused of trying to kill his mother in March isn't competent to stand trial. A community program director will recommend where Chad Elliott, 25, should be placed for psychiatric counseling.

Lodi officers arrested Elliott on March 16 after he was accused of stabbing his mother, Pamela Swift, twice with a steak knife on the 300 block of West Locus Street, according to a police report.

Swift was hospitalized but released the following day.

Elliott, who faces a charge of attempted murder, was booked into San Joaquin County Jail, where he is currently being held.

San Joaquin County Mental Hospital will submit an evaluation report prior to the next hearing, scheduled for May 2 at San Joaquin County Superior Court.

Hey there you reporters, how about re-capping when you post something like this. Not everyone knows what the original story was....

I for the life of me can't figure out how you people (reporters) get jobs and keep them?

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
