DUI checkpoints planned for holiday weekend Ten officers from the Lodi, Stockton, Manteca and Lathrop Police Department’s DUI Enforcement Team will be deploying tonight in Lodi to stop and arrest impaired drivers in the “AVOID the 10” ongoing traffic safety campaign.

Stockton police and Lodi police will also be conducting another “Zero Tolerance” DUI Saturation Patrol on New Year’s Eve targeting those who still do not heed the message to designate a sober driver before their celebrations begin.

“For those who don’t care about their own safety or the safety of others, BEWARE — we’re looking for you,” said Sgt. Lance Baur of the Stockton Police Department in a press release. “If we catch you behind the wheel of your car, truck or riding your motorcycle buzzed, you will go to jail this weekend.”

For more information, please contact Sgt. Chris Jacobson of the Lodi Police Department at 209-333-6861 or at cjacobson@pd.lodi.gov.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
