San Joaquin County Superior Court seeks applicants for grand jury

San Joaquin County Superior Court is seeking applicants from county residents interested in serving on the civil grand jury for the 2012-13 fiscal year.

The grand jury consists of 19 people whose names are randomly selected from applicants nominated by Superior Court judges. Jurors will investigate such topics as the functions and operations of governmental bodies and agencies within the county.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, an American citizen, lived in San Joaquin County for at least one year and possess sufficient knowledge of the English language. Elected officials and those currently serving as a trial juror are not eligible.

The county District Attorney’s Office will conduct background checks on applicants.

Applications are available at the county courthouses in Lodi, Stockton and Manteca, by calling 209-468-2827 or visiting www.stocktoncourt.org/ grandjury. The application deadline is April 2.
