Asset?, waste of time and money, the food is ok at best... the people are just plain rude..

I have never understood Wine & Roses' appeal. True, the rooms are nice if not overpriced. The restaurant is highly overrated - every time I've gone the food has been low quality. In fact, when some relatives visited last year and stayed there they had the same complaint. Stick to Rosewood for a gourmet meal.

I keep wondering about it being "Lodi's Resort Destination," as I have consistently questioned those who actually believe that folks decide to come to Lodi for anything other than - well, I can't think of why anyone would wish to visit our fair city unless they have friends and/or relatives here. Many have relied upon this characterization of Lodi to keep Wal-Mart from expanding; that because we're so "uniquely special" compared to other cities in the Central Valley, such corporate growth would actually mean less visitors.I drove by Wine & Roses today and although I've noticed this before, it does bear mention again. Aside from the hotel and its grounds, what surrounding it would force anyone in Sacramento, Modesto, Fresno or even San Francisco to wake up on a fine fall Saturday morning and exclaim, "Let's go to Lodi today!?" A strip-mall, apartment complexes and some relatively new (and nice) houses are all that is noticeable.Ok, Wine & Roses is a nice hotel with a very nice (and expensive) restaurant. In what other like communities in the Valley would one like it not be found?

What a great asset favor Lodi. It was a special event to celebrate the hard work by Russ and friends. Nice work all!

Actually, I like these kinds of articles and wish the LNS would do more stories about locally owned and operated businesses. This place has come a long way since Kris Cromwell's vision years ago. Congratulations!

Whoa Nellie, just because W&R has the only upscale game in town doesn't mean they have a "monopoly". It just means no one has put up the bucks to open a competing business. I would consider it a "limited market driven exclusive".

Oh c'mon Journey you know it's the ol'GOB marketing "you scratch my back and I'll kick you back a few pricey dinners."Yes, it was a nice PR Puff Piece, but hardly page one worthy, or that long.Sure W&R is a nice place, good food, and basically has a monopoly on upscale lodging in the area. But it is expensive.
