The San Joaquin County Mosquito & Vector Control District will conduct ground spraying in rural southeast Lodi to kill mosquitoes in an effort to curb the West Nile virus.
Spraying will take place between Tokay Colony and Live Oak roads west of Jack Tone Road from 5:30 to 7 a.m. either Friday or Saturday. Workers will spray Pyronyl 525.
Residents should eliminate standing water outdoors, use insect repellent containing the active ingredient DEET or Picaridin according to label instructions when outdoors, avoid spending time outside when mosquitoes are most active (at dawn and dusk, especially the first two hours after sunset), wear long pants, long-sleeved shirts and other protective clothing, and exclude mosquitoes from their homes with tight-fitting screens on doors and windows.
