Thursday is the pre-registration deadline to guarantee an event T-shirt for the 5K Tonn: Run for the Badge family fun run. It will be held July 4 in Galt as part of the city’s annual Independence Day Celebration.

On Jan. 15, Officer Kevin Tonn was shot and killed in the line of duty. The proceeds of the fun run will go towards a memorial to be built in his honor.

The run starts at 8 a.m. at Veterans Field, 900 Caroline Ave. Registration fees for adults are $35 and $100 for a team of four. Youths ages 12 and under are $15, but they must be accompanied by an adult.

Day-of-race registration will be available at 7 a.m. at the field.

Each race finisher will receive a special commemorative gift, and patriotic attire is recommended for participants.

Registration is available online.
