With rivers high and more rain in the forecast, the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday is expected to ratify Chairman Dario Marenco's declaration of a local emergency and possibly ask the governor to declare a state of emergency in the county.
A local emergency declaration was authorized by Marenco on Friday and does not need approval from the rest of the board, spokeswoman Elena Reyes said. The board will vote on it anyway and could also ask Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to make a declaration of emergency.
