Lodi police fielded a number of weird and wacky reports in 2013, including mystery cigarettes, a man sweating while running and mooing cows. Here is a random assortment of quirky items from last year’s Logbook:
Jan. 8: A man was on a roof trying to take an air conditioner apart in the 800 block of South Cherokee Lane.
Jan. 24: A man was stuck by a hypodermic needle in the bottom of a tray of flashlights in a store on the 300 block of West Kettleman Lane.
Feb. 20: Twenty-five juveniles came into a bar with a megaphone on the 100 block of North Sacramento Street.
March 21: A man in a maroon sweater was singing to himself and his two dogs on the 2100 block of Newbury Court.
March 22: A very sweaty man in red shorts was running along the 200 block of Main Street.
March 29: A caller found a Marlboro cigarette butt in her ashtray, but she only smokes cigars and lives alone on the 400 block of Cross Street.
April 26: A caller found a balloon with white powder on it on the 1900 block of West Vine Street.
May 6: A caller said she gave unknown subjects $14,000 because she was told that was what she needed to do to collect $33,000 on the 100 block of West Lodi Avenue. The unknown subjects stated they worked for the lottery.
June 24: Two deer were running around on the 2400 block of Tejon Street.
July 1: A man was urinating by a pool so all the other swimmers could see on the 1100 block of West Century Boulevard.
July 29: A caller thought a man was living in a storage unit after seeing him walk out of the unit on the 0 block of North School Street.
Aug. 20: A group of men wheeled a shopping cart full of items out of a store and then came back and tried to return the items on the 1300 block of South Lower Sacramento Road.
Aug. 27: Someone was over-watering on the 400 block of East Oak Street.
Sept. 12: A caller wanted advice regarding a neighbor getting his mail in small underwear on the 1200 block of Inglewood Court.
Sept. 24: A man was trying to hotwire his parents’ car on the 1800 block of South Hutchins Street.
Oct. 30: A man was wiping a bike off with his hoodie on the 400 block of North Cluff Avenue.
Oct. 30: A caller said a “chubby” kid with a knife cut a vehicle on the 200 block of East Locust Street.
Nov. 4: Cows were mooing in a field across the river on the 700 block of Willow Glen Drive.
Nov. 6: Someone found a duck head stuck in her door on the 800 block of South Washington Street.
Dec. 6: A sticky rat trap attached to a string was found in an ATM drop box on the 2300 block of Tienda Drive.
