Excel Academy, a special high school to prepare students for collegiate sports and health science, will have an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the academy, 2720 Transworld Drive, Stockton.

Excel Academy officials will unveil their  plan for the future, showcase the new gym and explain some of the activities for the upcoming year. Students are being enrolled for grades 7-12. The academy is run by the San Joaquin County Office of Education.

Described by county schools officials as a state-of-the-art gym, the building features three basketball courts, volleyball courts and two wrestling mats made of Resilite. The gym has a resilient synthetic floor combining recycled content and extremely low emissions of volatile organic compounds.

For more information on the gym, visit the Excel Academy website, call 209-227-2290, email excel@sjcoe.net or visit the school’s Facebook page.
