Three days after allegedly strangling his girlfriend with a bed sheet, Acampo resident Timon Joel Pool made his first court appearance Wednesday, where prosecutors formally charged him with two counts of murder that make him eligible for the death penalty.

Pool, 28, sat shackled to a chair as San Joaquin County Superior Court Judge Ron Northup read the special circumstances charges: One count of murder for the death of Lillian Brenna Best, 20, and one count of murder for the death of her unborn baby.
