Funeral planned for Lodi family killed in traffic accident

Posted

A funeral service will be held Thursday for five members of a Lodi family who died during a car crash at the intersection of Ham Lane and Vine Street last week.

Parents Luis Miranda Ochoa, 32, Vivian Rodriguez Salgado, 31, and their children Irving Miranda, 11, Jose Luis Miranda, 5, and Stephanie Miranda, 4, will be remembered during a service at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, located at 215 W. Walnut St. in Lodi.

The Holy Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m.

Their bodies will be flown Friday to the family’s native state of Guerrero, Mexico, where relatives will hold a funeral, according to Mariana Tyler, spokeswoman for the Mexican Consulate in Sacramento.

Tyler added that family members are still deciding who will travel from Guerrero to Lodi, but U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has agreed to grant humanitarian visas for the family.

Meanwhile, Eden Miranda, 9, the family’s lone survivor from last Tuesday’s crash, is in stable condition in UC Davis Medical Center.

On Monday, authorities announced that they will pursue murder charges against the 28-year-old Lodi man accused of causing a six-vehicle collision while intoxicated that left 12 people either dead or injured.

Ryan Morales is in critical condition, and police are waiting for his health to improve before making an arrest and returning him to San Joaquin County.
