A Lodi resident is facing a $270,000 bail after Lodi police arrested him for allegedly raping a woman near the train tracks.

Paul Wesley Huck, 22, will appear in Lodi court today after Lodi police arrested him late Tuesday night in the investigation of a case in which Huck allegedly raped a 49-year-old woman, according to Lt. Fernando Martinez of the Lodi Police Department.

Martinez said the woman was supposedly an acquaintance of Huck's and that the two had agreed to meet up near the bus depot on West Pine Street, but somehow ended up near the railroad tracks just south of Lodi Avenue.

It was there that Huck allegedly raped the woman, Martinez said.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, Martinez said, but Huck had been arrested within the last six months for a similar offense.

However, the district attorney decided to not press charges against Huck on that matter, Martinez said.

Huck also faces misdemeanor charges of attempting to evade police officers and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

I feel that if this had been dealt with properly the FIRST time this happened, the city of Lodi and that poor woman would not have been subject of a SECOND victim. I pray for the families of all.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
