At approximately 5 a.m. Friday, the Lodi Fire Department responded to a call that the debris from the recently demolished Cherokee Liquors had caught fire.
Flames were lapping up the side of Aldee Market next door by the time they arrived, according to Battalion Chief Ron Penix. Firefighters had to force their way into the building to check for an extension of the fire.
While the fire was contained to the outside, there were small spot fires on the roof of the building that caused minimal damage.
The rubble fire and spot fires were quickly extinguished.
