Police said a man led them on a foot chase and even attempted to fight officers after he was found to be in possession of a stolen vehicle on Monday afternoon.
Officers for the Delta Regional Auto Theft Task Force were doing surveillance on a stolen 1991 Honda Accord on Monday around 1:30 p.m. when they noticed Lodi resident Michael Lee get into the vehicle, said Detective Paul Blandford of the Lodi Police Department.
Lee, who police said has a history of car thefts, began driving off while Lodi police and Delta RATT officers followed him, Blandford said.
However, when Lee saw a motorcycle officer as he was driving, he stopped the car and ran, police said.
Officers gave chase and eventually apprehended him in the backyard of a home, but not before he attempted to fight off Lodi police officers, Blandford said.
Lee was out on parole for receiving stolen property at the time of his arrest, Blandford said.
