Organizers of the Galt Winter Bird Festival have just announced the addition of a new event.
George Lepp, a well-known bird and wildlife photographer, will present a two-hour program on bird photography on Jan. 27 at the Cosumnes River College Recital Hall from 6 to 8 p.m. It is being organized by the Sacramento Bee.
Lepp will share some of his greatest bird photography success stories — and some very funny failures — as he employs creative tactics and techniques to get the winning shot in locations around the world, according to a press release.
A book signing will immediately follow. This event is free to the public and no pre-registration is required. However, space will be limited.
On Saturday, the day of the festival, Canon Camera will have telephoto lenses set up on tripods at the Cosumnes River Manager’s Tour and Staten Island Sunset Tour sites for participants to use.
Canon staff will be available to assist participants in using their own personal camera’s memory card for amazing photo opportunities with Canon’s 300mm, 400mm, 500mm, 600mm, and 800mm lenses.
Canon will also have a booth at the festival with samples of cameras, long birding lenses and binoculars.
The festival begins at 6 a.m. Jan. 28 at McCaffrey Middle School, 997 Park Terrace Drive. It is sponsored by the city of Galt and Galt Joint Union Elementary School District.
