Bluegrass music and wine will come together at the San Joaquin County Historical Museum’s first-ever bluegrass and wine event on Saturday. The event is being held to raise funds for the museum’s Raise the Barn campaign.
Robin Wood, education and visitor services manager, said the barn will be an educational building that will house the museum’s children’s programs, such as Valley Days, Pioneer School and Farm to Fork.
The project will take about $250,000 to complete and Wood said so far they have raised about a third of that.
The event will include wines from 14 area wineries paired with music from bands such as the Horse and Buggy Music, Golden River Riders, Mokelumne River Band and The Brothers Strong. There will also be light appetizers, a silent wine auction and themed raffle baskets.
The event will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. at the museum at Micke Grove Park. Wood said they are hoping to have at least 500 people attend.
“We’re hoping to raise a lot of money in that four hours,” she said.
Tickets are $35 each and may be purchased by calling 331-2055.
