The News-Sentinel's Relay for Life team will collect donations, register cancer survivors and sell luminaries from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today in front of Kmart, 520 S. Cherokee Lane.
The team will also sell $1 raffle tickets for a red beach cruiser donated by City Bikes. All of the money raised will go to the Relay for Life event, which is a 24-hour walk on June 2 that raises awareness and money for the American Cancer Society.
Cancer survivors can register for free today. They will get a T-shirt and also be able to participate in a dinner on May 10. At Relay, there is a Survivor Lap, and breakfast and lunch are free.
The team will also be selling $10 luminaries — decorated bags lit with candles — in honor or memory of someone who battled cancer.
