The San Joaquin County Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing Thursday night for a use permit for Charles and Carolyn Chatfield to operate a dog kennel on the south side of Peltier Road near Elliott Road.
The Chatfields want to convert a 4,000-square-foot barn into a kennel to house up to 30 dogs to rescue them from euthanasia. The dogs are temporarily housed in kennel banks within the building and transported elsewhere for adoption events. The kennel would not be open to the public.
In other action, the Planning Commission will consider a one-year time extension for a previously approved use permit to allow Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church to move from 420 S. Central Ave., Lodi, to the west side of Elderberry Court, southwest of Lower Sacramento Road and Harney Lane.
Plans call for the church to house up to 120 people. It will include three modular buildings and a parsonage.
Thursday’s meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Public Health/Planning Auditorium, 1601 E. Hazelton Ave., Stockton.
