A woman is recovering in a local hospital after being shot while driving northbound on Highway 99 near Morada Lane on Monday night.

The 29-year-old woman was struck once in the neck when the suspect fired two small-caliber rounds into the driver’s side of the woman’s 2002 Dodge Caravan around 9:38 p.m., according to California Highway Patrol.

The woman immediately pulled over and called 911. CHP officers responded and closed northbound Highway 99 for about two hours while they investigated the scene. Paramedics transported the woman to a hospital where she is expected to recover from her injuries, according to CHP.

Officers are looking for a small black vehicle, possibly a Mitsubishi Eclipse, which was seen in the area at the time of the shooting, according to CHP. Anyone with information regarding the incident should contact CHP at 209-943-8666 or Stockton Police Department’s Crime Stoppers website.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
